A girlfriend booked three of us here for lunch on a rainy Wednesday. I was looking forward to having some hearty Peruvian dish so was getting pretty excited. Things didn't start off too well. The service - Geneva-style - was incredibly slow. The two women seemed to be struggling to bring menus, take orders or bring seasoning when asked (I asked for salt three times in the space of ten minutes). The plats du jour (CHF 18) were a choice of arroz con pollo (the Peruvian equivalent of chinese fried rice) and chicarones with frites or rice, alongside a starter of pumpkin soup (all the rage in this season) or a grated carrot salad. I ordered the soup and chicarones - in effect, small pieces of fish in batter. Another friend had the arroz con pollo and the other girlfriend had a dish of pave au saumon with rice. What an uninspiring meal. I think the chef must have forgotten how to season in all honesty. My pumpkin soup was bland and boring. The fish bites were plentiful - i.e. there was a lot on the plate - but that was pretty much the only positive. The fish was bland too, and the dish came with a pretty peewee-sized sauce that looked like thousand island but was also so nondescript I don't know what it was meant to be! All round, a total disappointment and plain food that prompted me to cover it in salt (and I rarely ever use salt). Funnily enough, my girlfriend said her arroz was too salty and that was pretty much it! Or maybe it was dry... in any case, an all-round boring affair that was not helped by some pretty lousy service. Won't be coming back here in a rush. Time to check out some other Peruvian eateries in Geneva...
